Transportation is an aspect of life that is often overlooked when the privilege of owning a vehicle is right outside your front door or when alternatives such as the city bus or ride share apps are popular.
However, in the Rio Grande Valley life runs a little differently than other regions. While public transportation is still developing in the Valley, people without personal vehicles are left to figure it out themselves to get around. Without reliable means of personal or public transportation, activities such as getting to school, work, and doctor appointments become an elaborate set of plans, endless back and forth messages asking friends and family for rides, and having to carefully coordinate to avoid any potential schedule mishaps.
In this series, I will be documenting people of the RGV, starting in Brownsville then making my way west, to reveal the ways this lifestyle affects the personal lives of certain individuals and how they find ways to overcome it.
