Neta is proud to launch two new features on our website: a community calendar and a local organization directory! With these two features, we’re innovating how we can continue serving the progressive community in the Rio Grande Valley as a hub for information, upcoming events, news, and stories from local groups who are doing The Work.

In the calendar and directory, we will feature groups who work on topics such as immigration, LGBTQ, abortion access, reproductive health, labor rights, education, and more.

Here is everything you need to know.

Community Calendar

The community calendar will be updated daily to include workshops, actions, phone banks, trainings, rallies, protests, and other events hosted by progressive groups in the RGV. We will also occasionally include fun, free, or educational public events hosted by other entities.

Our team will be on the lookout for events to add to the calendar as organizations make them public. However, our calendar also has an option for anyone to easily submit an event. So if you are hosting an event that you think should be on our calendar, you can add the event information and submit for us to review. Once we approve it, your event will go live.

To promote the events in our calendar, our team will be posting weekly event roundups every Monday, which will be a list of events happening that week. The roundups will be posted on all our social media channels. But for those who want to make sure they don’t miss any opportunity, you can text “calendar” to 33222 to receive the weekly event roundups every Monday directly to your phone. Try it out now so you can see how it works!

Organization directory

The organization directory showcases progressive organizations and groups in the RGV categorized by the topics they work on. For example, under the “abortion” category, you will find local groups who provide resources for those seeking to get an abortion. When people click on an organization, they will be directed to a page with more information about that organization.

While we have a solid list of groups, we know that there are many groups we may have missed or new groups that are coming out. So if you are part of a group that you think should be in our directory, you can email kurt[at] with a description of your group. When we receive your message, we’ll review it. Once approved, we’ll add you to our directory!

Well, what do you think?

We would love to hear feedback! We’ll be working daily to make sure the calendar and directory are always updated. But if you run into any issues while using these new features, don’t hesitate to contact us. Or if you have any ideas on new features we can roll out, we’d love to hear those, too.
