Event description: “Join us to phone bank for our upcoming RGV No Border Wall BBQ and Potluck!

If you’re interested in phone banking with us and helping us plan our commUNITY event, join us tomorrow from 6:30-8:30 in the large conference room of the EBC building located at 801 E. Fern in Mcallen.

We will NOT be having an RGV No Border Wall regular meeting. Instead, we’ll be using this time to phone bank and finalize details for the bbq and potluck.”

2. March 26 – Native Plant Tour

11:00am – 12:00pm

Location: 4101 W US Highway 83, McAllen, Texas 78501

Event description: “Join a staff naturalist for a walk on the trails and through the native plant gardens, exploring the benefits of native plants. The walk will be tailored to the participants’ interests in edible plants, backyard gardening, wildscaping, and more.

Native plants are adapted to our climate, soil ecology, and seasons of drought! Native plants are also much more beneficial to our wildlife, including many being host plants (food) for caterpillars of the butterflies that many of us enjoy. Native plants provide beneficial food and cover to many species of birds as well.

Admission is $1/person suggested donation and public programs are free of charge unless otherwise noted”

3. March 27 – Volunteers in the Park

8:30am – 10:30am

Location: 4101 W US Highway 83, McAllen, Texas 78501

Event description:  “Join us every Tuesday and Thursday, year-round, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am for a morning of volunteering in the park. Possible activities include weeding, watering, planting projects, raking, pruning, and more.

Upon arrival, you will fill out a very short volunteer waiver. Groups of 6 or more are asked to preregister so that we can be prepared for your group. Groups of 10 or more may schedule a separate volunteer time on the weekend if desired.”

4. March 27 – WeCovery (LGBTQ+ inclusive)

Event description: “WeCover is a LGBTQ+ INCLUSIVE to all, support group designed and facilitated by Jessica Hope Murph LMFT-Associate. This group is created to educate members about the cycle of substance abuse in the individual and dynamic system.

While we learn and grow together we will become a new dynamic support for one another as we head toward the path to Recovery together.

Call to schedule prescreening before March 27th to be added to the members list!”

5. March 28 – Parents of LGBTQ+ Support Group

Event description: “Hello Everyone we are so happy to announce the creation of a Support Group for the parents and families of LGBTQ+ People! This group is also open to LGBTQ+ youth who are under 18 as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
