“Annual Human Trafficking Symposium

CEUs & TCOLE Credits will be offered

There will be interpreters from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English for all sessions

This year’s symposium will explore cross-border and trans-border issues in the context of a globalized responsiveness to human trafficking. We will discuss the global trafficking complex with emphasis on an intersectional analysis of labor, migration, and exploitation in the promotion of supply chains, as well as the corporate failure to protect employees. We will focus efforts by international governmental authorities, community organizations, grass roots activist’s groups, intergovernmental initiatives, and social, regional, economic, and political organizations that address human trafficking.

“Stories from the 956: Abortion Speakout

1in3 Campaign and U.R.G.E will be hosting the speakout in honor of all the Jane Does being held in detention centers who are coerced and kept from their right to access abortion and freedom.

Join us Monday, April 23rd at Yerberia Cultura where we’ll have a space for anyone who wants to share their own personal abortion stories or read some of the stories we have collected.

We will also be releasing our first Zine honoring those in the 956 who have shared their stories and their art surrounding abortion, access, choice, bodily autonomy, immigrant justice, racial justice, and reproductive justice overall.”

3. April 25 – Pads for Pals Rally and Speak Out!

“Pads for Pals is hosting their first-ever rally and speak out on campus! Our ultimate goal is for the university to provide FREE and ACCESSIBLE menstrual products for ALL students.

We’re hosting this rally to amplify our voices, prove to the university that there is a demand, and to gather more support for this initiative!

4. April 26 – 2nd Annual Bake Sale for Repro Health!

“This time last year we had a small bake at Grind Coffee with the proceeds going to Planned Parenthood and Whole Woman’s Health. This year, we decided to do it again and we are teaming up with NARAL Next Gen, Texas Freedom Network, URGE, and Planned Parenthood Texas Votes to host the sale! We will be selling pastries and other baked goods to help raise donations for local reproductive health clinics that work to provide needed services in the valley. We will be accepting all major credit cards and cash as well.

Come indulge in #carbsforacause to help us to give back in a tasty way!

6. April 28 – RGV Climate March 2018

“The 4th Annual RGV Climate March is happening Saturday, April 28th.

Stand for environmental justice and celebrate the rise of climate awareness!

Theme is “Progress Begins with You”, or “El Progreso Comienza Contigo”.

We will congregate at McAllen City Hall at 2:00 PM where we will make noise with our songs, chants, and drums. An inviting, inspiring speaker will greet us and we will begin our march to Archer Park where we will have public speakers, activities, live music, and more!

This family friendly event will be celebrating the climate movement and will include inspiring stories, lessons, and ideas to raise climate awareness!
