6:00pm – 7:00pm

Location: 2451 N US Expressway 281, Edinburg, Texas 78541

Event description:

“For many of us, our pets are family members. When it’s time to say goodbye, the resulting sense of loss and grief is as real and sometimes as overwhelming as when we lose a relative or human friend.

Grieving the loss of a friend or companion is a sign of the love that existed between you. The first step in coping with your grief is to acknowledge your feelings. At PAWS Pet Loss & Grief Support Group, you can share your feelings with others who are going through a similar experience.

Feel free to bring a picture of your beloved pet and share your pet’s story.

This free and informal support group meets monthly and is for adults 16 years and older. A child’s class will be held at the same time for children between the ages of 6 and 16 lead by our Education Coordinator.

Reservations are not required to attend, but it is preferred.
Cost: FREE
Light Refreshments will be served.

Session will be facilitated by Kim Nguyen-Finn, Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor.

If you have questions, please contact Mari at 956-720-4563 or education@pvaconline.com for more information.

5. May 12 – Save Bentsen State Park: Community Picnic

9:00am – 12:00pm

Location: 2800 S Bentsen Palm Dr, Mission, Texas 78572

Event description:

“Join us for a community picnic to show our love for Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, which is one of the many parklands and natural spaces threatened by the border wall.

A border wall through Bentsen would separate the visitor center from the entire trail system. Let’s send a message to Governor Abbot and Congressman Cuellar that we want them to fight for our park and all of the other places that border walls will impact.

Join us for 30 minute nature walks every half hour from 9 am to 11 am, and then from 11 am to 12 pm for a Bring-Your-Own Community Picnic Lunch at the pavilion by the boat ramp.

We are working with the park to arrange a group rate of $3 person over age 12. You will need to pay the fee at the Visitor’s Center. Then walk down the park road (or take the tram) for about 1/2 mile until you reach the picnic pavilion that is just past Kingfisher Overlook (the boat launch).

Leashed pets are welcome, as are kids of all ages. No glass is permitted in the park so please be mindful when packing your lunch.

Detailed schedule to be announced shortly.”
