1. May 30 – Protest the Name Change / Keep Mexican American Studies

1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Location: LUPE

Event description:

“Rally & Press Conference hosted by NACCS Tejas K-12 featuring State Board of Education Representative Ruben Cortez, students, and educators to protest the Name Change and Keep Mexican American Studies. On April 13th the SBOE made the historic move to approve a state-wide high school Mexican American Studies elective course. However, that decision was marred by the renaming of the course to “Ethnic Studies: An Overview of American of Mexican Descent.” We invite you to attend and learn why we believe the community has a right to name itself.
