The second annual PRIDE Brunch is taking place this Sunday on June 3 at The Dog House in Brownsville starting at 12 PM.

The event will feature a live drag show with performances from Aeon Mavis York, Luna Lestrange, Edra Valencia Iman, and Edna Anderson with Beatrix Lestrange handling hosting duties.

“It’ll be a queer friendly environment with local drag artists,” Aeon Mavis York, one of the performers, said.

The drag show is scheduled to have the first performers go on at 1 PM, followed by a small intermission with the second set taking place at 2 PM.

“This second annual PRIDE brunch the audience is going to be expecting lots of entertainment from some amazing drag queens,” Edra Valencia Iman, another one of the performers, said. “We want our fans in the crowd to feel special. Not everyone has the time to go to a club at night. With the PRIDE Brunch it gives us the opportunity to put in a sickening show for our devoted fans and new ones.”

The first PRIDE Brunch took place on June 25 of last year, also at The Dog House in Brownsville.

Melissa Garcia, the community initiatives coordinator for Break The Cycle, is planning on attending this PRIDE Brunch with her boyfriend for the first time.

“When I saw it was a PRIDE Brunch we said hell yeah,” Garcia said. “I’ve never seen Beatrix in action so it should be a lot of fun and there will be brunch.”

The brunch is scheduled to end at 3 PM. The Dog House will be selling food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholics beverages at the event.

“Everybody loves brunch so why not give it a try?” Garcia said. “People often say there’s nothing to do in Brownsville or in the Valley in general. This is the perfect example that goes against that. Y’all, they are organizing a brunch and live performances. This doesn’t happen very often around here, so we all better show up and support.”
